Charles Ralph “Chuck” Tischler passed away on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and longtime partner, Marianne. Born on June 29, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Elizabeth Tischler, Chuck grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for the outdoors, and an adventurous, entrepreneurial spirit that shaped every part of his life.

After spending his early years in Ohio, Chuck and his wife, Ethel Carolyn Johnson, moved west to Reno, Nevada, where they raised their four children—Dean, Kimberly, Suzette, and Curtis. The Sierra Nevada mountains became the family’s playground and a backdrop to countless memories.

Chuck’s free spirit and enthusiasm for life were unmistakable. He taught skiing for many years at the Junior Ski Program at Sky Tavern, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. T.” With his big beard, cowboy hat, and tight stretch ski pants, he became a local legend on the slopes. Away from skiing, he loved hunting in the Nevada backcountry and racing his beloved 1966 Mustang at car club events in Reno and Ohio. In his later years he enjoyed traveling around the US with Marianne in his RV and enjoying car shows along the way. Once they stopped traveling he would enter his car weekly in car shows and met lots of new friends along the way.

Chuck lived life on his own terms—curious, hardworking, and full of humor. He took pride in a job well done, valued friendships, and always found a way to say nice and caring things to people and make them feel special.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jack. He is survived by his life partner Marianne, his four children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A time for family and friends to gather will be from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Monday, November 10, 2025 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 am with Pastor Tj Waters officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions are suggested to the Richland County Joint Veterans Squad or Disabled American Veterans. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
