It is with a sad and heavy heart that we share with our friends and family the recent passing of our Dear Brother: Jerry Allen Bond, age 66, who passed away Monday morning, 09-29-25, at 6:55 a.m., surrounded by his loving family consisting of his mother, brothers and sisters as well as his girlfriend, Amy Lough.
Jerry was born August 3, 1959 to Charles and Delores Bond in Ashland, Kentucky. As the middle child, Jerry was always “The life of the party”; “The Happy-Go-Lucky Guy” that never met a stranger and touched the life of everyone he knew.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Delores Bond Mintz of Alabama; Kathy Bond Reel of Virginia Beach, VA; Chuck Bond (Debbie) of Vacaville, CA; Julie Bond Ludington (Alan) of Alabama; and Victor Lee Bond of Charlotte, NC as well as his nieces and nephews: Jamie Glenn (Abbie); Rich Glenn; Stevie Gingras; Missy Lockard; Charles Bond, Jr.; Craig Bond; Sara Winter; Vanessa Dubois (Rob); Kenneth Bond; Frederic Reel; Kenan Reel; as well as all of his great-nieces and great-nephews but especially Madison Glenn (Great-Granddaughter), who was his “Tee-Tee”; as well as his childhood friends, Cornell Webb (Darlene) and Dave Crawford.
Special Mention to Jerry’s Best Friend: Cornell Webb. Jerry will be especially missed by his childhood and best friend almost his entire life, Cornell Webb. Jerry had the privilege of living many years in Cornell’s home and assisting him with work. As you all know, Cornell is such a gifted musician and mechanic, and took Jerry under his wing, teaching and encouraging him to learn to play the Bass Guitar and which later resulted in Jerry joining the band “Valhalla” with Cornell’s begging, pleading, and encouragement. Being part of this band was one of Jerry’s highest honors and achievements. Music brought him so much enjoyment!
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Bond of Olive Hill, KY and Mansfield, Ohio and two baby brothers (Robert and Donald).
Jerry graduated from Madison High School in Mansfield, Ohio and went on to become the first licensed gas tank installer in the Mansfield area. He spent many happy years working for Musick’s Construction and found his “work family”, all of whom he loved very much, prior to his retirement.
Jerry LOVED gardening and teaching all of his nieces and nephews step-by-step how to grow, care for and harvest the BEST gardens in the world! He was the MASTER! He took great pride in out-doing not only everyone in the neighborhood but all of his family as well!
Jerry loved cooking, especially his favorite meal: Pinto Beans and Cornbread! He could not be outdone with his meal and spent years teaching his nieces and nephews all of his secrets when preparing special dishes.
Jerry loved fishing and was always counting the days until the weather warmed up enough for him to start working on his favorite fishing pole!
Last, but not least: Of course, we could not leave out “THE CLEVELAND BROWNS”! From a young age, Jerry became a Die-Hard Cleveland Browns fan————–as did every member of his family! As we grew up under the guidance of Jerry and his vast knowledge of the Cleveland Browns, no one in the family was ever permitted to even think of rooting for another team and so – through the good and the bad (mostly bad)– we all tried our very best to be as Proud of the Cleveland Browns as Jerry always was!!!! Sunday for Jerry was a day of Football Celebration—-with big vats of his homemade Chili, meat and cheese trays, burgers and “dogs” and of course Bud Light. He looked forward to and talked about Sunday all week long!!!! He would always begin the season with “This is our Season Boys!); and end it with “We’re all set for next Season—We’ve got it down now!”
Jerry and our baby brother, Victor, had the opportunity to watch the Brown’s beat Victor’s team (Green Bay) a few days before Jerry passed away! The whole family had so much fun seeing Jerry’s face light up during that game. Victor, of course, swears he called in a favor and at the end Green Bay threw the game in Jerry’s favor just so the Brown’s would win!
Jerry also enjoyed traveling and visiting his growing family as we all grew up and moved away. He would often come for extended visits with all of us and accompany us on family vacations. He had his own room at each of our houses and he truly loved being a part of a BIG family and was so proud of his heritage and upbringing.
For those of us who had the pleasure of knowing and loving this AMAZING Man———we were Blessed! He was such a humble, loving, caring, supportive, encouraging and talented man! His deep voice saying Good Morning while he drank his morning coffee will be just one of the things we will miss about this Man that will certainly be missed by so many! We were all truly Blessed to have had the privilege of spending time with him and we will cherish our memories and carry our love for him forever. He is certainly in a better place BUT for all who truly knew him, we know that no one else will ever replace him in our hearts!
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Amy Lough, Jerry’s girlfriend, who dropped everything to drive Jerry the 12 hours to Virginia Beach when he fell so ill and knew he needed help from his family. Amy stayed with all of us during Jerry’s short 3 ½ week hospitalization with us never leaving Jerry’s side during this time, before we brought him home where he could be surrounded by all of us as he quietly just went to sleep and stopped breathing. We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to have Amy help us through this process. Words cannot express our sincere gratitude for all Amy has done for Jerry and our family.
In lieu of flowers, Jerry was a regular monthly donor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He had such a soft spot for children, especially those who were sick, and wanted to do everything he could to help them. Should you wish to make a donation on Jerry’s behalf, please do so to this organization. We know Jerry would be smiling down from Heaven and proud of you for carrying on his contribution to help the children.
It was Jerry’s wish to have a “CELEBRATION OF LIFE” in Mansfield and so, because Jerry’s wish was our command:
The family would like to invite all of Jerry’s family and friends to his CELEBRATION OF LIFE which has been scheduled for Friday night, November 7, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at “The Back Room Bar and Grill”, 880 Laver Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44905.
“VALHALLAH” and “TRUST” – Jerry’s Bands, will play in his Honor starting at 9:00 p.m..
Let’s all come out and spend an evening laughing, crying, and sharing stories about this AMAZING Man, whom we had the privilege of knowing and loving. We know he will be smiling down from Heaven as we all gather together in his Honor for this momentous occasion!
