MANSFIELD — Mansfield residents will elect four City Council members and three school board members on Nov. 4.
Voters will have a chance to hear from candidates for those positions on Oct. 15 when Richland Source again hosts “Candidate Conversations” at its offices at 40 W. Fourth St. in downtown Mansfield.
All eight City Council candidates have been invited to participate, as have all five candidates for the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education.
This year’s event will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free to the public, although seating is limited.
The evening will also be livestreamed on the Richland Source Facebook and YouTube pages with the assistance of our partners at DRM Productions.
The event is a part of the Richland Source election coverage that kicks off on Wednesday.
Richland Source Deputy Managing Editor Carl Hunnell will moderate the City Council conversations. Reporter Katie Ellington Serrao will do the same with school board candidates.
Here is roughly the schedule for the night:
7 p.m. — Mansfield City Council At-large — Shari Robertson (R) and Phil Scott (D)
7:20 p.m. — Mansfield City Council 1st Ward — Michael Miranda (R) and Amber Thompson (D)
7:40 p.m. — Mansfield City Schools Board of education — Five candidates for three seats in non-partisan race among Chris Elswick, Gary Feagin, Linda Golden, Deena Hamilton and Rebecca Wayman.

8:35 p.m. — Mansfield City Council 5th Ward — Aurelio Diaz (I) and Joetta McCruter-Polk (D)
“These are not debates. They are designed as conversations, moderated by myself and Katie,” Hunnell said.
“There are no timers, bells or lights. All candidates are asked to respect one another, as well as the audience, in the forum provided by the event.
“These will be informal and civil conversations about the City of Mansfield and the Mansfield City Schools,” he said.
Live questions will not be taken from the audience during the event.
