Jay Logan Sr., 61 of Ashland passed from this life on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2025 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born on November 20, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Jay B. and Reva Gayle (nee Alderman) Logan.
Jay graduated from Midview High School, Class of 1982. After high school, he furthered his education and graduated from Lima Technical College in 1984 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
He married the former Sheri Hughes on August 8, 1987.
Jay was employed at Emerson for many years and completed his career as a carpenter for Rogers Construction.
Throughout his life he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, coon hunting, fishing, camping, and playing Texas Holdem. The most important thing in Jay’s life was his unending love for his family. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren more than life itself. His life was centered around each and everyone of them and his relationship with God as his Lord and Savior. He loved attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events, and he was their biggest “fan”. He loved to prank and joke around with his family and friends, his sense of humor was delightful and he will be missed by those who knew him best.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years of marriage, Mrs. Sheri Logan of Ashland; his mother, Reva Coates of North Ridgeville; his three children, Amanda (Will) Grimes of Galion, JJ Logan of Loudonville, and Brittney Logan of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Madi, Ethan, Kayden and Elijah Grimes, Baylee Logan, and Hayden and Mason Hicks; two great grandchildren, Delilah Fricke and Zilo Hood; two sisters, Brenda Logan of Elyria, and Mechele (Don) Hyer of North Ridgeville; his best friend and brother from another mother, Scott (Gloria) Woods of Spencer; special friend, Jason Spicer of Canton; and many nieces and nephews that adored him.
Jay is preceded in death by his father, Jay B. Logan who passed away in 1978; and his stepfather, Jack Coates Sr. who passed away in 2017.
