Jean Crawford, of Bellville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 91.

She was born on December 23, 1933 to the late Clarence and Eva (Thompson) Cramblit in Malta, Ohio. Growing up in the area Jean attended and graduated from Malta & McConnellsville High School with the class of 1952.

On March 18, 1954, she married the love of her life, Galen D. Crawford in Malta, Ohio. Together they shared 71 years of marriage, laughter, and memories.

Jean was a dedicated worker who took pride in providing for others through her cooking. She served as head cook at the 76 Plaza and the Dinner Bell Restaurant before later joining the staff at the Walking Horse Inn, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Her hard work, friendly spirit, and love for people left a lasting impact on coworkers and customers alike.

She lived a life of faith, service, and joy. As a longtime member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Jean poured her heart into many areas of ministry—teaching Bible school, working in the nursery, lending her creativity to Bazaar projects, and organizing countless funeral dinners. She was also a member of the Chestnut Chapel Club for several years, faithfully serving as both secretary and treasurer through the years. Jean found great fulfillment in her church community and cherished the friendships she made there.

Gifted musically, Jean played both the accordion and the organ, often filling her home with song. She was also a proud member of the Valley Chapter #19 Order of the Eastern Star in McConnellsville, Ohio. When she wasn’t serving others, she enjoyed simple pleasures like crocheting, knitting, cooking, baking, and bowling. One of her special joys was writing letters and sending cards—she never missed an occasion to send one, blessing countless people with her thoughtfulness. More than anything, Jean loved her family. Time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest treasure, and her warm, outgoing nature made her a true people person who was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband Galen D. Crawford, children Steven (LaDonna Isley) Crawford and Barbara (Greg) Waite, grandchildren James (Katie) Crawford, Brett Waite, and Kendall Waite, great-grandchildren Titus Crawford and Lydia Crawford.

The Crawford family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025 in the Snyder Funeral Homes, Bellville Chapel, 81 Mill Road, Bellville, Ohio 44813.
