Fred Partin, age 95 of Bellville, Ohio passed away surrounded by love early Friday morning, September 19, 2025. He was born January 17, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to the late Garrett and Maude (Hensley) Partin.
His family moved to the area in 1933 and settled on Possum Run Road where he would live out the entirety of his life. He bought a house with his bride in 1960 just down the road from his parents and would live there until 2005 when he had a house built back down the road where he started and lived there until he passed.
Fred was one of ten children. He quit school in the 7th grade working at various jobs sharing his paycheck with his mother. As a young, man he learned the trade of block and brick laying from his father. He was meticulous in his work gaining respect in his field.
Fred was drafted into the Army on February 13, 1951 and served in Korea with an honorable discharge as Corporal on February 1, 1953.
Fred married Clara Mae Kurtz in Mansfield, Ohio on January 19, 1960. They celebrated their 65th Anniversary in January. He took great pleasure in caring for Clara and being there for her especially in the last ten years.
Fred worked at National Seating and later would retire from General Motors at 59 years of age with an early-out. He had worked at GM for 32 years but drew his “paycheck” for another 36 years.
Fred loved the outdoors, enjoyed his large gardens, feeding his birds especially the humming birds, cutting down trees to make his firewood and picking and grinning on his guitar and banjo.
Fred is survived by his wife Clara, three daughters Susan (Joseph) Yates, Brenda Beiwinkler and Diane Partin and one son Michael (Patricia) Partin; grandchildren Larry, Jeremiah, Zachariah, Joshua, Haley, Katelyn, Ryan, Taylor, Mitchell, Cayden, Christina, Jeremy, Tia, Kenneth (Hoss), Michael, Trisha and Jacob; and many great grandchildren, a brother Richard (Cindy) Partin and a sister Linda Partin.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Robert Partin, Jenny Meeting, Lorraine Walters, Verla Jean Cline, Dolly (Marge) Hardwick, Joan Boyer and Judith Partin; a granddaughter Kaylee and best friend for 60+ years Cecil Frazier.
Visitation will be at Snyder Funeral Home in Bellville on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 1-2 pm with a Military Gravesite Funeral following at Mansfield Memorial Park at 2:30 pm.
