Mansfield: Kathaleen Pickens, age 93, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a brief illness.
She was born March 19, 1932 in Enterprise, Kentucky to parents Stewart and Stella (Masters) Hall. In 1943 she started school at the Erie School for Girls, a private religious school in Olive Hill, Kentucky, graduating in 1950. Right after graduation, she married Rolland Mabry and moved from Olive Hill, Kentucky to Mansfield, Ohio where she made her home.
Kathaleen was a dedicated employee having been a cashier at A & P Grocery Store for 17 ½ years. She then went into banking at the former Richland Bank. After a little while at Richland Bank she decided to go back into the grocery business working at Fazio’s Grocery Store for 11 years and finally retiring from Miller’s Meats.
She married Hubert Charles “Chuck” Pickens on September 13, 1980, sharing 29 years of love and life together. She was a member of the Mansfield Choral Society, Louis Bromfield Chapter of American Business Women and a member of the Retail Clerks Union. Her faith in the Lord led her to teach Sunday School and sing in the choir at the Free Methodist Church in Mansfield in the 1970’s. She later became a member of Berean Baptist Church in Mansfield.
Kathaleen was always on the go, she loved to stay busy and active. A few of her favorite hobbies included tending to her vegetable garden and flower garden. An avid animal lover, she had numerous dogs as a part of her family. For the last seven years of her life she resided at Trustwell Living at Mansfield Place.
She will be remembered for her warm spirit, her strong faith, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
Surviving are sons Ron (Sharon) Mabry of Severna Park, Maryland and Dennis (Carol) Mabry of Mansfield; step-daughter Cindy Pickens and step-son Brian Pickens both of Cincinnati, Ohio; half-sister, Patty Vincent; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jonathon) Swain of Severna Park, Maryland, Joshua (Ornetta) Mabry of Mansfield, Ohio, Brian (Beth) Mabry of Orchard Park, New York; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Aaron Swain; Riley, Madison, Joshua and Jackson Mabry; Reed, Pearce, Isla and Grant Mabry. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and her close friend, Loretta Caudill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chuck; her siblings, Ruth Davis, Jack Hall, Marge Schnitzer and Betty Walker. From a young age she was raised by her late step-mother Esther Hall. Also preceding her in death was her step-sister Barbara Wells and her half-brother Allen Hall.
The Pickens/Mabry family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, Friday, September 26, 2025 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a service honoring Kathaleen’s life will immediately follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Oak Grove Memorial Park in Lexington.
