Edward Frank Doklovic II, age 93, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was born May 6, 1932, in Mansfield. Ed worked as a tool-die maker for most of his life and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church and the Mansfield Men’s Garden Club.
Ed was an avid golfer, often playing courses wherever and whenever he could – including courses across Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, and North Carolina. He found happiness in the simple things like tending to the garden, but he was truly happiest at the family cabin in Lovells, Michigan, where he would fly fish.
Ed was a central part of his community, with eager involvement in many groups and organizations. When his children were young, he was president of the Mifflin Elementary Parent Teacher Organization for many years. He and his wife were also members and volunteered at Kingwood Center Gardens for over 20 years. They enjoyed visiting the gardens and bringing their children and grandchildren with them. One of his favorite acvies was judging gardens for the Mansfield Men’s Garden Club, to which he devoted countless hours doing what he loved.
Known for his quick wit and stubbornness, Ed embodied what it meant to persevere, to be loyal, and to find humor in every situation. His legacy is not just one of resilience, but of love and compassion for his family and friends throughout the years. Ed went through life teaching his children and grandchildren to be patient and enjoy life to the fullest.
Ed is survived by his wife, Carol Doklovic of Mansfield, of whom he shared 63 years of love, devotion, and laughter; his daughter, Cindy of Davisburg, MI; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Annette Doklovic of Mansfield, Andrew and Jennifer Doklovic of Mansfield, and Brian and Amy Doklovic of Chapel Hill, NC; seven grandchildren, Hans, Adam, Erika, April, Rachel, Austin, Paige (Mitch), Alaina, and Anya; great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward M. Doklovic, his mother, Theresea (Babic) Doklovic, his brother, Rudolph Doklovic, his sister, Pauline (Doklovic) Seaton, and dear friends and family.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio.
