John T. Malone, age 69 of Mansfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born on November 25, 1955, in Galion to the late George R. and Catherine L. (Pittman) Malone, and on June 28, 1980, he married the love of his life, Sherry (Dunham).
John graduated from Mansfield High School in 1974, and he later worked for American Standard for 31 years until his retirement in 2018. He was a proud union member and ex-vice president of the local AFL-CIO, and he loved watching the Buckeyes, Browns, Guardians, and Cavs. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
John was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and Papaw, and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Sherry Malone; his children John Thomas (Christina) Malone, II, Ashley (Wesley Lambert) Malone, and Michael (Charna Rosenfeld) Malone; his grandchildren Benson and Miles Malone; his sister Bonnie (Robert) Clark; his father- and mother-in-law Ralph and Tina Dunham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Catherine Malone, his siblings Cathy Gollehon and Dennis Malone, and his brother-in-law David Dunham.
Friends and family may gather to honor John’s memory on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield.
