MANSFIELD — Mansfield’s newest treat comes in the form of dirty sodas situated inside a women’s clothing boutique.

Janelle Blake opened Bloom Boutique four years ago in a small room within Roots Salon along Park Avenue. Now, the downtown Mansfield outfit features a dirty soda shop inside the boutique.

Business for Bloom took off quickly, and by the following January the boutique had already expanded into the space next door, located at 48 Park Avenue West.

As Bloom grew, Blake began thinking about what else she could bring to the community. Inspiration struck during a trip to Sonic with her daughter-in-law, who introduced her to dirty sodas.

Dirty sodas typically include a soda base, flavored syrup and creamer.

“I really enjoyed it,” Blake said. “So, I was like, what if we do a dirty soda shop?”

Blake teamed up with her son, Dylan Wade, to launch Fizz, inside the boutique, officially making the location Bloom and Fizz on Friday, Sept. 5.

Blake said Mansfield and the surrounding areas don’t have anything like it, and she wanted to introduce something new.

Serving drinks designed for everyone

Every month, Bloom and Fizz will feature seven new specialty drinks. Customers can also create their own by filling out a sheet that lists the many possible combinations.

One top seller so far is the Fluff It Up, made with root beer, marshmallow drizzle, toasted marshmallow and vanilla cold foam. Blake, Leeper and Wade all said it has been their number one drink since opening.

For those who prefer something different, the shop also offers lemonade and Alani Nu energy drink bases. Sugar-free drinks and flavors are available as well.

Customers can pick up a punch card, and after 10 drinks, the next one is free. Blake said some customers have nearly filled their cards already.

Blake said customers at Roots Salon, located at 50 Park Avenue West, or at Brennan’s Barber Shop and Shave Parlor, located at 52 Park Avenue West where her son works, can order drinks from Bloom and Fizz and have them delivered right to their chair.

“We want to encourage people to come shop, chill, relax and just really build that community,” Blake said.

Connecting Mansfield one drink at a time

“The amount of support we’ve received since opening—we look at each other and almost laugh or cry,” Blake said.

Blake said the community’s support has meant the world to them.

“We feel incredibly grateful,” she said. “As we continue to get settled, we’re excited about what the future holds for Bloom and Fizz.”

The shop has sold out of items several times since opening, thanks to the community’s response.

Building relationships and creating community through Bloom and Fizz is something Blake said she hopes to continue.

“People are always searching on TikTok for what’s near them,” Kat Leeper, manager at Bloom and Fizz, said. “I hope this brings people to Mansfield.”

Leeper said she is grateful Mansfield has something different to offer and encouraged people to stop in, grab a drink and shop.

“We want to meet you,” she said. “And there is something for everybody.”

The clothing store and dirty soda shop is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday; 10 a.m. t0 6 p.m. on Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. They close on Sunday and Monday.
