Jon Kenneth Coy, 81

Jon Kenneth Coy, 81 of Ashland passed away from this life on Monday, September 15, 2025 in the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

He was born on March 5, 1944 in Monterey, California, the son of the late Kenneth E. and Olive (nee Sprott) Coy.
Jon graduated high school in 1962 and began working in a Shelby factory to pay for his college education. He met the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Hall, during the junior year of college and they were married on June 19, 1965. Jon enlisted in the United States Air Force in the spring of 1966 and left to serve his country, serving 2 years in Germany where the two of them were able to see parts of Europe together.

Jon retired after more than 20 years from Certainteed Corporation in 2014 where he worked in maintenance.
He was a previous member of Grace Brethren Church, where he was very involved in Upward Basketball and was a prayer minister for many years.

Always working in carpentry, Jon kept himself busy in his wood shop building and framing and always under construction project.

In his retirement years, both Jon and Judy traveled for more than six years to Belize.

Jon is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Judy Coy of Savannah; two sons, Jim (Michelle) Coy of Ashland and Jason (Whitney) Coy of Lancaster, OH; four grandchildren, Jordan, Mariah, Katie and Claire Coy; three sisters, Joyce (Fritz) Ludwig of Quarryville, Pennsylvania, Jane Coy of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Jill (Gerald) Sterling of Wooster; and a sister-in-law, Donna (Mike) Daugherty of Wooster.

In addition to his parents, Jon is preceded in death by his son, Jon Kevin Coy who passed away from this life on May 27, 2014.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Jeff O’Brien presiding. Following the service a meal and time of fellowship will be in the Legacy Room of the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date, to be determined by the family. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
