MANSFIELD — Below are criminal court cases which have been resolved in Richland County Common Pleas Court in recent months.
The list includes any case which Richland Source has published as an indictment, stories which first began publishing here in February 2024.
July
— James Kempf, 36, was sentenced to six to 7.5 years in prison for two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person. Two additional counts of that same charge were dismissed. Kempf must also register as a Tier II sex offender. He also received up to five years of mandatory post-release control and was granted 164 days of jail credit for time already served at the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
August
— Carl Dukes, 58, received a 24-month prison sentence stemming from eight charges: having weapons while under disability (6 counts) and receiving stolen property (2 counts). A pair of firearm specifications were dismissed. However, Dukes must forfeit four firearms to the State of Ohio and received five years of community control. He is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted eight days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Jerry Shaw, 40, was sentenced to six months in prison for a single count of possession of cocaine. Shaw must also pay $40 to the Mansfield Police Department crime lab. Shaw is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 57 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Destiny Karsmizki, 37, received 36 months of community control for two charges: aggravated possession of drugs and possession of cocaine. Single counts of possession of a fentanyl-related compound and tampering with evidence were dismissed. Karsmizki must pay $120 to the MPD crime lab and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Paul Minnie, 56, was sentenced to nine months in prison for a single count of possession of cocaine. Minnie must also pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. He is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted four days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— William Kent, 47, received four years of community control for 23 counts of workers’ compensation fraud. Eleven tampering with records charges were dismissed. Kent was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $21,210.10. He is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Mickey Jones, 56, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for a single count of aggravated possession of drugs. Jones must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. Jones is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 15 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Wesley Crose, 32, received a 24-month prison sentence for five counts of aggravated possesion of drugs. Crose must also pay $80 to the MPD crime lab and $140 to the Ohio State Highway Patrol crime lab. Crose is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 21 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Todd McHenry, 48, received 30 months of community control for a single count of possession of cocaine. He must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. McHenry is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Shannon Troche, 54, was sentenced to nine months in prison for two charges: having weapons while under disability and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them. A second operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them charge was dismissed. Troche was also fined $375 and must forfeit a firearm to the State of Ohio. Her driver’s license is under suspension for six months. The suspension began Aug. 18. She is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted two days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Melinda Monroe, 46, received 30 months of community control for a single count of possession of cocaine. Monroe was also fined $100. She is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Ulysses J. Chester, 33, was sentenced to five years in prison for eight charges: trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine, trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, possession of a fentanyl-related compound, aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, possessing criminal tools (2 counts). Chester must also forfeit interest in the amount of $1,737 to the State of Ohio. Chester is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 88 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Tonya Wahl, 50, received 30 months of community control for two counts of possession of cocaine. Wahl must also pay $70 to the OSHP crime lab. She is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Karacha Griffin, 31, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for a single count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer. Griffin’s driver’s license was also suspended for five years. The suspension began on March 8. Griffin is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Robert Bowman, 36, received 36 months of community control for a single count of aggravated possession of drugs. Bowman is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Michael Hopkins, 55, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for two counts: tampering with evidence and possession of cocaine. Hopkins must also pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. He is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Seth Vincent, 33, was sentenced to four years and 18 months to six years and 18 months in prison for two charges: aggravated burglary and strangulation. Five charges were dismissed: attempted aggravated murder, attempted felonious assault, trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, domestic violence and assault. Vincent also received two to five years of mandatory post release control. He was granted 147 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Delmarkus Hardin, 32, received a 24-month prison sentence for two charges: illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility and possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Hardin must also pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. Hardin is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Destiny Karsmizki, 37, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for two charges: possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs. Five additional aggravated possession of drugs charges were dismissed. Karsmizki must also pay $320 to the MPD crime lab. She is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Robin B. Willman, 55, was granted treatment in lieu of conviction for a single count of aggravated possession of drugs.
— Javier Lopez, 27, was sentenced to 36 months in prison for four charges: burglary (2 counts), grand theft and grand theft of a motor vehicle. Lopez also received one to three years of mandatory post-release control. He was granted 313 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Samantha Gilbert, 36, received 36 months of community control, to be transferred to Hocking County, for a single count of aggravated possession of drugs. Gilbert must also pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. She is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Darcy Griggs, 48, was sentenced to six months in prison for one count of aggravated possession of drugs. Griggs is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 26 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Jedd Heiland, 48, received a 12-month prison sentence for two charges: obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Heiland is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 110 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
