Leah Jean Simmons of Mansfield passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Burbank Parke Care Center in Burbank, Ohio. She was 82 years old.
She was born October 14, 1942, in Elliott County, Kentucky, to the late Bethel (Skaggs) and Clayton Flannery. Leah was a loving, devoted, generous woman who enjoyed being with her family. Strong-willed and determined, she was a hardworking homemaker. She had a business selling antique glassware. She loved tending to her flower beds and most of all, spoiling her grandchildren.
Leah is survived by two sons, Anthony Simmons (Robin Lutz) and Mitch (Karen) Simmons; a daughter, Rhonda (Dan) Heuberger; ten grandchildren, Darla (Grayson) Smith, Courtney (Johnathan) Cooper, Brittany Simmons (Jason Feldman), Benjamin (Crystal) Heuberger, Joshua (Alissa) Heuberger, Tiffany Cooper, Tony (Misty) Simmons, Stacy (Eric) Duposki, Morgan (Justin) Stacy, and Toni Raiann Simmons (Jacob Bentley); twenty-six great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Owens, Lois Turner and Rhonda Rhodes; and a brother-in-law, Paul Fannin.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Simmons; daughter, Teresa Simmons; grandson, David Simmons; and three siblings, Clayton Flannery Jr., Ray Flannery, and Audrey Fannin.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park beside her husband.
