GALION — Four suspects were arrested by the Galion Police Department on Sunday in connection with the attempted break-in at the First Federal Bank West night drop box, according to chief Ryan Strange.

Those in custody include three Pennsylvania men and a 16-year-old boy, Strange noted in a Monday afternoon press release.

The adult suspects include Jahmal Arnold, 32, Anthony Gunn, 31, and Edward Lowe, 24. All are being held at the Crawford County Justice Center, pending formal charges. The 16-year-old was also being held.

The arrests were made following a citizen complaint, Strange noted in a Monday afternoon press release.

Strange said that at approximately 7 a.m., the department received a report from a concerned citizen who observed suspicious activity near First Federal Bank, 901 Bucyrus Road.

“Officers were immediately dispatched to the area and observed a vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed,” Strange said. “The vehicle fled southbound out of the city and subsequently crashed in Morrow County.”

An extensive search followed, with assistance from the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Ohio Department of Natural Resources. All four suspects were located and taken into custody.

“The Galion Police Department would like to commend the individual who reported the suspicious activity,” Strange said. “Because of their quick action and our officers’ rapid response, a crime was prevented, and those responsible are now facing charges.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Galion Police Department at 419-468-9111, or anonymously via the tip line at 419-468-3840.
