Michael Studer, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2025, at Avita Health Hospital in Ontario, Ohio, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.

He was born on September 29, 1951, in Shelby to the late Norbert and Nadine (Kress) Studer and had been a Shelby resident for the majority of his life. He graduated from Shelby High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, Michael met the love of his life, Kipper (Bissell) Studer and they soon married on November 24, 1973. After a brief break, he went back to school in the early 80’s to obtain his associate’s degree in law enforcement. Following his schooling, he and his wife moved to Melbourne, Florida, where he worked as a bread truck delivery driver for Merita Bread for nearly 18 years, before retiring in 2005.

Michael’s love for his family knew no bounds. He cherished the time spent with his family, and especially his grandchildren. They meant everything to him. The activity did not matter as long as he was with his family spending quality time together. Living in Florida near the ocean for 25 years fueled his love for fishing and boating. He spent much of his free time on the water with family and/or friends relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Aside from fishing, Michael was an incredibly passionate Ohio State Buckeye Football and Cleveland sports fan. He watched games religiously at home but also enjoyed attending in person when he could.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kipper Studer; children, Brian (Leah) Studer of Virginia and Jennifer Lawson of Florida; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two siblings, Janet Lay of Shelby and Steve Studer of Norwalk, Ohio.

He was preceded in death his parents.

At this time no services will be observed per Michael’s request.
