HARRIS TOWNSHIP — A 52-year-old Port Clinton man was killed after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Friday in Ottawa County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Jeffrey Rollins, 52, was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King Classic. Rollins suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The Patrol stated he was not wearing a helmet.

The incident took place at approximately 4:59 p.m. on West Portage River South Road west of State Route 590 in Harris Township, Ottawa County.

According to the Patrol, Rollins was traveling westbound on West Portage River South Road when he failed to properly negotiate a curve. Rollins failed to maintain control of his vehicle, went off the right side of the roadway and struck the guardrail.

After initial impact, Rollins was thrown from the motorcycle which later overturned. Both Rollins and the motorcycle came to final rest on the north side of the roadway.

Alcohol and/or drug use are not believed to be a factor at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
