MANSFIELD: Carrol B. Gregg died on August 20, 2025 in his Mansfield home comforted by family. He was 96.

Carrol was born near Fredericktown, Ohio on August 27, 1928 to parents Howard and Lillie (DeBolt) Gregg. His early years were spent on the family farm located on Gregg Road. He was a graduate of Fredericktown High School class of 1946. He received his CLU degree in 1965 from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He came to Mansfield in 1947 and was employed as a salesman of office furniture and supplies for the Charles Ritter Company.

In 1957, he entered the insurance business representing Aetna Insurance Company until his retirement on January 1, 2000.

At the age of twelve, Carrol made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In response to what Christ did for him, Carrol was active in the Palmyra Church of Christ, Linden Road Presbyterian for 50 years, and Grace Bible Church in Lucas, Ohio. He had served as a trustee, deacon, elder, Sunday school superintendent, teacher, choir member, and men’s ensemble member. He sang with the Mastersingers male chorus of Mansfield for many years.

Carrol believed in giving back to his community. He was a 47 year member and past chairman of the advisory board of The Salvation Army of Mansfield. A member and past president of Mansfield Kiwanis Club, a volunteer tour guide of Kingwood Garden, member and past president of Mansfield area Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, and a member and past president of Mansfield area chapter of CLUs and ChFCs.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Deborah Gregg of Greensburg, PA, and Darren Gregg of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Michael Case of Tennessee, and Lynette and Rich Mroz of Indiana. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is survived by five nephews and three nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years Helen McClure Gregg; and his second wife of 18 years Helen Byles Gregg; a sister Beulah Shaffer; and brothers Arthur Gregg and Stanley Gregg.

The Gregg family will receive guests Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Following his private burial service in Mansfield Cemetery, a memorial service will be held Saturday, August 30 at Noon in Grace Bible Church, 67 W Main Street, Lucas. Pastor Wayne Presnell will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army in Mansfield, OH.
