MANSFIELD — The Miss Ohio Scholarship Program is staging its first Miss Ohio 5K Run/Walk at the Mansfield Cemetery on Sept. 13.

The “Chasing the Crown on Hallowed Ground” event is a fundraiser for the 501C3 program that culminates each year in June with the crowning of Miss Ohio on the stage of the Renaissance Theatre in downtown Mansfield.

Registration for the race is $25, which includes a t-shirt, is due by Aug. 27. The fee moves to $30 after Aug. 28 and no t-shirt is included.

On race day, registration opens at 8 a.m. at the cemetery, located at 389 Altamont Ave. The 5K run begins at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K walk starts at 10 a.m.

Miss Ohio 5k co-chair Terri Herlihy-Clark said organizers are also looking for sponsors for the event, ranging from $100 to $5,000.

“We are in need of your support to help grow this wonderful program. This a great asset for the City of Mansfield and Richland County and we need to keep it right here in our community,” she said.

“Even though we are a non-profit, we still need dollars to support all the wonderful scholarships that the contestants earn, our general operating costs and of course, Miss Ohio’s trip to the Miss America Pageant,” Herlihy-Clark said.

All donations are tax deductible.

“We need to have all donations by Aug. 25 in order to place your logo on the t-shirts,” she said.

Email terri@missohio.org with your information regarding your sponsorship, along with the applicable logo for the race t-shirt.
