ONTARIO — Kyle Webb said he believes Ontario is headed in the right direction and he finds it difficult to step away before he can see the results of future projects.
“I wish I could see all the growth that is planned and everything that is in store for the future of Ontario,” said Webb, who is stepping down from City Council, effective Sept. 1.
Webb said he is moving to Knox County to be closer to work, where he serves as chief information officer for the county.
He said city leaders have many plans for continued development and he looks forward to watching Ontario evolve in the years ahead, even from a distance.
Webb described his council service as a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the city’s progress and growth.
“It was a great experience serving on Ontario City Council and truly an honor,” he said.
Ontario Republican Party committee members will appoint Webb’s replacement in the coming weeks.
According to Richland County Republican Party Central Committee Secretary Jane Zimmermann, the appointee must be a registered Republican.
“We are very sorry to lose such a thought dedicated public servant and want to thank him for his contributions to our community,” she said.
Webb’s decision to step aside opens the door for a new member to step in as the city continues forward with projects and growth. Applicants can send resumes and letters of interest to Zoi Romanchuk at zoi@prmachineworks.com.
The deadline for applications is Monday.
Webb was appointed by Republicans in 2022 to complete the unexpired term of then-Councilman Chad Wilford. Webb also withdrew his candidacy for the November 2025 ballot. His unexpired term would have run through December 2025.
