LEXINGTON — It wouldn’t be a Blueberry Festival without a parade.
The village turned out in full force Sunday afternoon for one of the highlights of the annual four-day event, now in its 23rd year.
The Blueberry Festival queens were all on hand on the hot summer afternoon for the hour-long parade.
But there were also queens of festivals and pageants from around the state, some traveling from more than two hours away to take part in the parade from Lexington High School down to Community Park along Plymouth Street.
The Lexington High School athletic teams were all participants, as were the cheerleaders and the high school Band of Gold Marching Band.
There were several groups of baton twirlers and organizations, including a group from Richland County Mental Health & Recovery Services, promoting the levy renewal it has on the Nov. 4 ballot.
The festival, which had a large fireworks display Saturday night, concluded with local favorites, Sorellé, performing from 4 to 5:30 p.m. It features the singing Heichel sisters — Madison, Ana and Bella — who finished fourth at NBC’s “The Voice” two years ago.
