5
Wins last season for first-year head coach Jim Sweat, who took over for longtime coach Scott Spitler. The Cubs finished 5-6.
26
Combined wins last year for Lucas’ Week 2 and Week 3 opponents, Hillsdale and Lucas. Both games are road games for the Cubs. All three teams are in Region 27 of Division VII.
268
Miles round trip for the Cubs when they visit Reynolds (Pa.) in Week 8. The long road trips will be a thing of the past when Lucas joins the Northern 10 Athletic Conference in the fall of 2026 after more than a decade as an independent.
PLAYERS TO WATCH 💪

BRADY ANSCHUTZ
A sophomore, Anschutz rushed for 393 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a freshman. He made 15 tackles from his spot in the secondary.

TIM DALEY
A senior, Daley is a physical runner who doubles as a defensive back.
CRYSTAL BALL 🔮
The Cubs begin their second season under coach Jim Sweat and look to regain the form that made the program a consistent playoff winner under former coach Scott Spitler. Seven of Lucas’ regular season opponents were Ohio playoff qualifiers last year. The move to Region 27 from rugged Region 25 should make the hunt for a 12th consecutive playoff berth more manageable, but the region now includes defending Region 25 champ Hillsdale along with reigning Region 27 champ Danville.
