GALION — A routine bank deposit just after midnight turned into a harrowing encounter that has the Galion Police seeking an armed robber.

The incident took place at approximately 12:05 a.m. Friday morning at Huntington Bank, located at 260 Portland Way North in Galion.

According to Galion Police chief Ryan Strange, as of 10:30 Friday morning the suspect remains at-large.

Strange said a local business employee was in the process of making a night deposit when they were approached by an unknown white male. The suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and a dark face covering, brandishing a firearm.

The suspect forcibly took the deposit bag and fled the scene on foot, heading eastbound toward the Heise Park area, the victim stated.

Police promptly responded, but were unable to locate the suspect following a search of the area. No physical injuries were reported by the victim. 

The Galion Police are asking the public for assistance in this matter.
