MANSFIELD: Mildred “Millie” (Facemeyer-Bond) Counts, age 93, of Mansfield and formerly of Mt. Vernon passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025 in her home with her family at her side.

She was born January 7, 1932 in Kanawha County, WV to the late Ernest and Hattie (Randolph) Facemeyer and was one of ten children.

A long time resident of Mt. Vernon and Mansfield, Millie worked at Westinghouse in Mansfield and stayed there until the facility’s closure at the age of 59.

Millie lived her life with energy, elegance, and intention—always busy, always creating, and always giving. Whether inside her home or out in the yard, she poured her meticulous care into everything she touched. Her lawn was always perfectly trimmed, her house beautifully decorated and filled with thoughtfully curated collections. She had a flair for style, a love for shopping—especially on QVC—and a deep appreciation for nice things, from clothes to keepsakes. Creative and skillful, Millie even operated her own kiln in the basement, where she lovingly crafted and hand-painted porcelain dolls, each one a reflection of her talent and patience.

She was a remarkable cook, known especially for her crispy fried chicken, pecan pie, and decadent German chocolate cake. Later in life, her sweet tooth was joined by a love for bacon and, once again, fried chicken—a small indulgence that brought her joy. Millie had a heart of gold and a spirit that wasn’t afraid to speak its truth. She gave generously, lived passionately, and carried herself with grace and strength. Those lucky enough to know her were blessed by her warmth, her honesty, and her unshakable sense of self.

Millie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Diana (Timothy) Barnes, step daughters Carolyn Ritchie and Aurelia Jones; grandchildren Jennifer Lutsch (Tim Duffey), Rocky (Susan) Lane, and Michael Bond, four great grandchildren Ronnie Crumbaker, Kaiden Lutsch, Lyndsay Bond, and Maddy Bond, two great great grandchildren Matthew and Ezra Crumbaker; two step-grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren; sister Shirlely Lepley, brother Kenny (Jeannie) Facemeyer, and 22 nieces and nephews and many extended family members.

Preceded in death by her husband Edwin “Red” Counts in 2001, three children Floyd Bond, III at birth, Dennis Bond and Vicki Bond, step-grandson Tim Barnes, step sons-in-law Roger Ritchie and David Jones; brother-in-law Tom Lepley and siblings Helen Griffin, Wilma Ferguson, Ann Crouse, Selba Jean Watts, Esther O’Byrne, Larry Facemeyer and Anna Belle Clark.
