Hello! I am Hannah Martin, the new reporter at Richland Source.
I’m new here, but not to the community.
I am a Richland County native. I graduated from Lexington Local Schools in 2018, then attended Eastern Gateway Community College, graduating with an associate of arts degree.
Next, I continued my education at Full Sail University. I earned a bachelor of fine arts in creative writing degree in 2024.
You may have seen my byline previously, I’ve been freelancing for Richland Source for the past year. This has allowed me to gain more knowledge on the job and immerse myself better in the community.
I have also published multiple pieces with a number of different online magazines.
Writing has been a passion for as long as I can remember. I have always been a creative person and love to share what I can create with others.
When the opportunity presented itself for me to interview and become a full-time reporter at Richland Source, I jumped at the chance.
Freelancing for Richland Source enhanced my passion for the community — one that I did not know I had.
Diving deep into what north central Ohio has to offer and sharing that with readers is something that I hope is fun for both the readers and me.
It’s exciting to see where things are going and how the area is changing. There is so much this county has to offer, and I want to explore that topic with members of this community.
Although I have a slightly different background from other reporters here, I bring a strong and unique skill set to the Richland Source team.
My goal is to provide the community with stories that meet the reader’s needs. I hope to do this with my own creative flair.
You may run across me at an Ontario City Council meeting, or perhaps the Madison Township trustees. My first big assignment will be covering the Richland County Fair.
I’m also being tasked with finding interesting things to do, places to see, events to attend in the tri-county region (Richland, Ashland and Knox).
I want to thank everyone who has helped and believed in me on this journey. It has been a crazy and wonderful past year seeing how I have grown as a writer. My family has been my leading support system and has kept me going through all of this.
I am incredibly thankful to Richland Source for taking a chance on me and giving me this new opportunity.
I am excited to see where this leads and how I can continue to grow!
