MANSFIELD — The Cypher City Hip Hop Festival lit up the Richland County Fairgrounds on Saturday with more than 30 artists taking the stage for a day-long celebration of music, culture, and community.
Each performer had five to 10 minutes to showcase original tracks, creating a high-energy rotation that engaged the crowd well into the evening. The event was organized by Ryan James, who called the weekend a “crazy couple of days,” but said the hard work was worth it.
“This was a collaborative effort — I have to thank my team, the podcasters, the vendors, the performers, the sponsors,” James said during a Facebook Live video on Sunday.
Among the people James shouted out was Thuh Koz who served as the MC for the event and DJ Dro Jack who was the DJ for the entire event on Saturday.
“If you want professionalism, it can’t get better than Dro,” he said.
This was the second annual Cypher City Hip Hop Festival and James was grateful for the crowd who came out, the energy and all the talented performers. He hopes to continue to make this event bigger and better.
“We showed the city once again that hip hop culture in this city is alive and well, and we can do it at a high level.”
