MANSFIELD — Fellowship trumped heat and humidity Saturday afternoon in Mansfield.
Hundreds turned up for the ninth annual Oasis of Love Block Party and Community Fair on the city’s north side, even as temperatures soared into the upper-80s and the heat index approached 100.
Not surprisingly, a line formed at the snow cone booth as festivalgoers attempted to ward off the heat.
Music thumped over the sound system as young and old waited for slices of watermelon and meat off the grill.
Several social service agencies set up booths and there was a bounce house and inflatable slide nearby for children. Kids also got to take a seat in a city firetruck.
