Bonnie Lurli Edwards, 84, of Galion, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Born on May 9, 1941, in Morehead, KY, to the late Fred and Nillia (Buckner) McCleese.
Bonnie graduated from Morehead High School in Morehead, KY. She married the love of her life Charles “Dave” Edwards on July 17, 1961, recently celebrating their 64th Wedding anniversary.
Throughout her life, Bonnie was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing beautiful quilts that will always hold a special place in her family’s hearts. For 36 years, she served at Gospel Baptist Church, where her heartfelt dedication to the church’s nursery and Young at Heart programs touched the lives of many. Bonnie’s spirit thrived in her love for family vacations, especially to Pigeon Forge, the beach, or the mountains, creating memories that her family will forever cherish. Bonnie especially looked forward to the evening meal on vacation, that everyone needed to be present for.
Left to cherish Bonnie’s memories are her loving husband, Dave; her daughters, Ginger (Mark) George, of Galion, Darcy (David) Hymore, of Orgeon, OH, grandchildren, Amber (Joshua) Leitzy, David George, Hanna Hymore, Olivia Hymore, her great-grandchild, Kaden Leitzy, siblings, Freda Ferrell, of AZ, and Donnie (Cindy) McCleese, of Mt. Vernon.
Her legacy of love will continue to shine brightly through them. As we gather to remember her extraordinary life, let us honor her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to family. Bonnie will forever be missed but never forgotten, as her spirit continues to inspire those she touched.
Friends may call on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gompf Funeral Service-Galion Chapel, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Additional calling hours will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, July 28, 2025, at Gospel Baptist Church, 5670 OH 19, Galion. Services will immediately follow at the church at 11:00 am with Pastor Steven Hodges officiating. Burial will take place at Iberia Cemetery.
