Frank Eugene Kleer, known affectionately by friends and family as Gene, passed away on July 16, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 90, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gene was born on July 18, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, a place he would call home for many years before moving to the sunny shores of Florida. He was married to his first wife, Vivian Kleer, for 53 years, until her passing in 2007. Gene met and married Bonnie Burr-Kleer in 2009, sharing 16 wonderful years together.
Gene is survived by his children, Kevin & Debbie Kleer of Bellville, Ohio, Allan & Rhonda Kleer of Lexington, Ohio and daughter Julia Kleer & Marty Cave of Bradenton, Florida. His sister, Darlene Adkins from Ontario, Ohio also survives him. Gene’s spirit will live on through his three cherished grandchildren, Nathan (Brie) Kleer, Andrea (Dave) Tingley and Kory (Kennedy) Kleer, as well as four great-grandchildren, Emma, Chad, Elliot and Lane, and a great-granddaughter on the way.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Kleer, and his brother, Robert Kleer.
Gene graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and completed his education at Virginia Banking Institute and soon embarked on a successful career in the banking field, where he ascended to the role of Senior Vice President. Outside of work, Gene was an avid boater and golfer.
A graveside service to honor Gene’s faith and life will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, July 24, 2025 in Oak Grove Cemetery.
