Kyle Elizabeth (Mitchell) Coleman, of Shelby, died Thursday, July 17, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Her death, followed by a nearly three-year courageous battle with cancer, came just ten days prior to her sixtieth birthday.
Born July 27, 1965 in Shelby to Raymond and Lela M. (Williams) Mitchell, she graduated in 1983 from Shelby High School. On December 11, 1963 Kyle married John Paul Coleman, celebrating nearly 32 years of happiness and memories. For work, Kyle was a 16-year employee of Kroger then became the proud owner/operator of Buckeye Self Storage in Shelby. Additionally, she was a key counterpart in the operation of their family business, Coleman Asphalt.
Sixteen years ago, Kyle fulfilled a lifelong dream by building her ideal home with her family. It became a place filled with love, laughter, and warmth. She especially cherished evenings spent on the back porch, sharing stories and watching the deer and wildlife that roamed the property. One of her greatest joys was designing her dream kitchen—a space fondly known as “Kyle’s Kitchen.” It was the heart of the home, always filled with the aroma of something delicious, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her cooking and the comfort of being together. Kyle and John also shared many special dates, often cruising to Lake Erie. They would make little stops along the way, always ending with their favorite: a perch sandwich by the water.
In addition to her husband, John, Kyle is survived by their sons: Samuel (Natalie) Coleman and Timothy Coleman both of Shelby; her parents: Ray and Lela Mitchell of Shelby; brothers: Tim (Sara) Mitchell of Dublin, Stewart (Michelle) Mitchell of Shelby, and Brent (Missy) Mitchell of Shelby; father-in-law: Paul Coleman and the entire Coleman family; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Kyle was preceded in death by her mother-in-law: Marian Coleman.
Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 3-7 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 10:30 am at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where Kyle was a member, 29 West Street, Shelby with Fr.
