Jane Elizabeth Vanderkooi, age 69, of Galion passed away Friday July 11, 2025 at her home.
Born May 27, 1956 in Bowling Green, she was the daughter of the late Merlyn and Jean (Clark) Oates. She married Jim Vanderkooi on November 28, 2003 and he survives.
Jane was a 1974 Graduate of Northmor High School. She retired as an insurance agent working at Guy’s Insurance. She was a member of Crestline Church of Christ and the Mother’s Club of Galion. She was a volunteer for many years with Community Action. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and canning, bowling, horses and dogs, camping and rooting on the Buckeyes, Browns and Indians.
In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her two sons: Scott (Jessica) Guy and Jeremy (Katie) Guy, 8 grandchildren: Nate (Maria) McGovney, Trent (Holly) McGovney, Liz Guy, Graham Guy, Brody Guy, Xander Guy, Emily Guy and Evie Guy, 2 great-grandchildren Wren and Jade McGovney, step sons Brad (Brittany Groll) Vanderkooi and Joey Vanderkooi, step great-grandchildren Brinley Groll and Bronson Vanderkooi, brothers Gerald (Donna) Oates, Glenn (Kathy) Oates and Don (Kim) Oates, sister-in-law Janet Oates and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Kelly Guy and her brother David Oates.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday July 17, 2025 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio.
