MANSFIELD — A juvenile victim was shot in the arm Sunday night in Mansfield, one of two reported shooting incidents overnight, according to police.

Chief Jason Bammann said Monday morning officers first responded to a report of multiple shots fired after 9 p.m. near the Wood Street apartments. No one was shot at the scene, he said.

He said officers obtained a description of the alleged gunman and located him on Cline Avenue.

“A foot pursuit ensued. We had an officer injured in the chase (during a fall). He will be OK. He was treated and released at OhioHealth (Mansfield Hospital),” the chief said.

The chief said K-9 teams were used in the search, as well as the city’s new autonomous drone.

“We didn’t locate the culprits,” Bammann said.

The chief said a handgun, extended magazine and several live rounds were found during the incident.

The second incident came hours later on Bradford Avenue, according to the chief.

Bammann said a juvenile victim in the second incident was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after being shot in the arm.

Two individuals were detained for questioning, he said. It was not known Monday morning if charges were filed.

Bammann said shell casings were recovered from the second scene. It appeared at least one of the shots fired hit a nearby house.

The chief said he believes both shooting incidents involved juveniles.
