MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP — An Arkansas man was killed on Sunday night after a single-vehicle jeep crash on Interstate 71 in Ashland County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
William Justin Anderson, 50, of Jonesboro, Arkansas was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident took place at approximately 9:19 p.m. when troopers from the Ashland Highway Patrol Post were dispatched to I-71 near mile post #183 in Montgomery Township.
According to the Patrol, a 1997 Jeep Wrangler was northbound on I-71 and went off
of the left side of the roadway into the median. The Jeep struck the median cable barrier and overturned before coming to a final rest.
The Patrol stated the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Ashland Fire & EMS & Bate’s Towing.
The left lane of I-71 (northbound) was closed for approximately one hour.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are considered to be factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
