MANSFIELD — The North Central Ohio Educational Service Center (NCOESC) successfully hosted the 2025 Educator Business Boot Camp for local Educators, connecting 20 local educators with 10 diverse business sites from June 2 to 5.
This initiative aimed to provide educators with firsthand insights into local industries and the skills students need to thrive in the modern workforce.
Throughout the four-day boot camp, participating educators explored a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and technology.
They gained a deeper understanding of the wide array of job and career opportunities available within these industries. A key focus was identifying the essential skills students need for both securing and retaining these positions.
Beyond career exploration, educators also learned about educational advancement opportunities and benefits offered by the participating companies.
This included valuable insights into pathways that allow students to pursue career-ready skills and potentially avoid accumulating college debt.
As a direct outcome of their experiences, teachers developed a classroom unit or project based on the industry tours.
This practical application of their learning will directly benefit students, helping to bridge the gap between classroom instruction and real-world career demands. Participants also earned three hours of graduate credit in partnership with Ashland University.
NCOESC hosted educators from the following districts: Fostoria City Schools, Hopewell Loudon Local Schools, Old Fort Local Schools, Riverdale Local Schools, Tiffin City Schools, Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools, and Vanguard Sentinel Career and Technology Centers.
Participating businesses included American Plastics, Arnold Machine, Bascom Communications, Church & Dwight, Croghan Colonial Bank, Edward Jones, Grammar Logistics, National Machinery, Tiffin Mercy Hospital and Webster Industries.
