MANSFIELD — Richland County Youth and Family Council, in collaboration with Richland County Children Services (RCCS), has announced the lineup of speakers for the upcoming Richland County Men’s Empowerment Breakfast.

The event will feature Obie Stillwell, a Madison graduate and former linebacker for Ohio State, as well as an analyst for ABC-6 Football Fever. He is also he facilitator of Obie’s Breakfast Club, and the Executive Director of A Community Reach.

Richland County Juvenile Court Judge Steve McKinley will also be speaking.

This free event is scheduled for Monday, June 23, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, 890 W. Fourth St.

This empowering breakfast promises insightful discussions on fatherhood, mentorship, and community engagement.

Judge Steve McKinley

Steve McKinley was appointed Richland County Juvenile Court Judge in 2019 by Governor Mike DeWine.

Judge McKinley took his oath of office on April 2, 2019. Prior to his appointment, he served as a Richland County Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court Magistrate for more than 20 years.

Judge McKinley has devoted his legal career to protecting youth, families, and the community. As a Magistrate, he successfully enforced child support orders and visitation rights, resolved numerous custody and divorce cases, and issued civil protection orders to protect individuals from domestic violence.

During his tenure as Judge, he has collaborated in a juvenile court mentoring and Girl’s Circle program to serve youth and assist parents. Judge McKinley has utilized a Special Response Court as a means of preventing delinquency and stabilizing youth who are at risk of out of home placement.

Prior to entering his legal and judicial work, Judge McKinley graduated with honors from Regent University School of Law and was on Law Review.

Judge McKinley has been married to his wife Ann since 1990. When he is not working, he spends time with their six children and grandchildren, being involved in activities at their church, playing soccer and basketball.

Judge McKinley grew up in Ada, Ohio, with his three brothers and mother and father.

Lastly, Affordable Housing where there are over 100 elderly and disabled residents who benefit from accessibility here in Richland County.

Obie advocates for equitable resources and opportunities for all people.

Deeply committed to relationship-building and community impact, Obie is the founder of Obie’s Breakfast Club, where he has cultivated a network of corporate and community leaders, fostering collaboration through strategic conversations and mentorship.

His leadership extends across corporate and civic spaces, serving on numerous boards and commissions dedicated to promoting access; Gahanna Board and Commissions, City of Grace Church, Neighborhood Bridges and The Ohio State University Early Childhood Head Start; to name a few.

Obie and his wife, Heather, reside in Gahanna, Ohio, where they have five children — Alexis, Kobie, Kellen, Joplynn, and Marley.

A self-proclaimed renaissance man, Obie finds joy in art, travel, writing, poetry, and music, often playing hand percussion at his church and with local bands. His passion for culture, connection, and community continues to shape his work and inspire those around him.
