BUTLER: Margareta K. “Marge” Kirkpatrick, age 90 of Butler passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 in Country Meadow Care Center.
She was born December 27, 1934 in New York City to the late Karl and Bertha ( Duemmler) Goeppinger and was raised with five siblings Emil, Arthur, Rosalinda, Walter, and Frank. Her family bought a farm in rural Knox County, Ohio where she graduated from Centerburg High School. On August 21, 1954 she married Walter Kirkpatrick who preceded her in death in 2020.
After high School Mage worked as a nurse’s aid at Mercy Hospital in Mt. Vernon, and later at Gorman Rupp Industries in Bellville. In her later life she served the Butler community at the Clear Fork Ski Lodge and 5 Points Drive In. To this day the customers all remember her distinct voice calling “your pizza’s ready” in her not so subtle, never bashful voice. Marge loved word searches, completing them everyday, as well as flower and vegetable gardening and canning. Her family cherished her home cooked meals made with love.
She is survived by her two sons Bob Kirkpatrick and Mary Hay, William Kirkpatrick and Amanda Zody; grandchildren Lisa Baker, Monica Sturts, Ben Kirkpatrick, Walker Kirkpatrick and Brynley Kirkpatrick; great grandchildren McKenzie Baker, Wyatt Baker, and Chloe Sturts.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband Walter “Nub” Kirkpatrick, Marge was preceded in death by a great grandson Payton Sturts.
The Kirkpatrick family invites friends to call Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 1:30 to 3 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service for Marge will follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery at 3:30 pm. Pastor Patrick Bailey will officiate.
