About the event:

This is an interactive program for elementary aged children that explores the basic principles that make a rocket work. It includes information on accessing handouts that young people can use at home to build safe, working rockets at home. Activities include children competing to set indoor altitude records. This workshop is led by scholar Larry Bounds who will be portraying Wernher von Braun on July 17.

Please note: no fire or ignition is used in any of these models, and none are rigid, avoiding an impact danger.

The workshop will be held at the Ashland Public Library, 224 Claremont Avenue, Ashland.

Ashland Chautauqua’s 5-day Breaking Barriers event runs from July 15-19, 2025 with daytime workshops at various locations and living history performances each evening at Myers Memorial Band Shell at Brookside Park, Ashland. All events are free and open to the public. All event locations are accessible and sensory-friendly.
