Television might have been in its infancy in the 1950s, but this era produced some of the funniest, most clever sitcoms of all time. Join historian Leslie Goddard to look back at shows like The Honeymooners, Leave It to Beaver, Father Knows Best and of course, I Love Lucy. What were the best 1950s sitcoms? Are they still as fresh today as they were 70 years ago? Watch some clips and cast your vote for the greatest 1950s sitcoms. This workshop is led by scholar Leslie Goddard who will be portraying Lucille Ball on July 15.
The workshop will be held at the Ashland Public Library, 224 Claremont Avenue, Ashland.
Ashland Chautauqua’s 5-day Breaking Barriers event runs from July 15-19, 2025 with daytime workshops at various locations and living history performances each evening at Myers Memorial Band Shell at Brookside Park, Ashland.
