About the event:
Frances Perkins built relationships with the people she knew had influence and could help her make a difference in the world. She impressed Teddy Roosevelt through correspondence regarding worker safety. Later, she became friends with Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt, but much closer to him than her. She supported Franklin Roosevelt throughout his time as Governor
of New York and President of the United States. This workshop looks at the impact Franklin and Frances had on each other, and on our nation’s history. This workshop is led by scholar Deleasa Randall-Griffiths who will be portraying Frances Perkins the evening of July 16.
The workshop will be held at Mill Run Place, 1715 Richard Drive, Ashland.
Ashland Chautauqua’s 5-day Breaking Barriers event runs from July 15-19, 2025 with daytime workshops at various locations and living history performances each evening at Myers Memorial Band Shell at Brookside Park, Ashland. All events are free and open to the public. All event locations are accessible and sensory-friendly.
