Rosella M. Bates, 98
Rosella M. Bates, 98 of Ashland passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Brethren Care Village.
She was born on January 2, 1927 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Virgil and Lenna (nee Barr) Egner.
Rosie attended school at Paradise Hill and Ashland High School.
She married her high school sweetheart, Charles Richard “Red” Bates on November 23, 1946. They had many happy years together.
Rosie was a member of the Nankin Community Church and enjoyed working outdoors in her flower gardens.
She was employed at both F.E. Myers and A.L. Garber Company.
She is survived by two sons, Larry (Barbara) Bates of Ashland and Dennis (Carla) Bates of Ashland; five grandsons, Travis (Ranita) Bates, Tyler (Missie) Bates, Eric (Ashley) Bates, Marty (Johanna) Bates, and Brad (Mindy) Bates; her granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Dziak; and eight great grandchildren, Mattie, Karsyn, Cole, Shelby, Jase, Bristol, Piper, and Harper Bates.
In addition to her parents, Rosie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Red who passed away on June 2, 2009; a grandson, Drew Bates; and three sisters, Francis (Dick) Stafford, Thelma (Delbert) Rock and Jeanette (Mose) Bowerize.
Interment services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Nankin Cemetery with Trudy Bates presiding.
