There’s a fresh new spot in town that’s got people talking and snacking. Char-Bougie, the creative food and beverage behind the scenes at The Note, is officially open inside the Teller Building in downtown Lexington, and it’s the perfect place to grab a drink, share a bite, and settle in for a fun, relaxing night out.
Located at 40 E Main St, Lexington, OH, The Note now serves food every Friday and Saturday from 4–9 PM, thanks to the creative energy of Krysten Brown, the founder of Char-Bougie. Known for her gorgeous charcuterie and grazing boards and love for all things small bites, Krysten started her business in 2023 as a passion project, and it quickly turned into something more.
It all started with weddings—specifically, working alongside her friend Jodie, the owner of Pulse Brands, a local wedding DJ, coordination, and rental services company. Krysten’s charcuterie boards made regular appearances at Jodie’s events, and after seeing the consistent buzz they created, Jodie gave her the push to turn her side hobby into a full-on business. That encouragement sparked what is now Char-Bougie.
What makes Char-Bougie special? It’s “bougie on a budget.” Krysten’s all about taking affordable ingredients and making them look and taste amazing. “One event might take three different grocery store runs just to get the right combo of quality and price,” she laughs. “But that’s what makes it fun.”

She’s also big on doing things the right way. Char-Bougie is licensed, insured, ServSafe certified, and committed to supporting local, often sourcing produce from Richland Gro-Op (which happens to operate out of her former kitchen space in Mansfield). She’s all about fresh, beautiful food without the fluff.
