He was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on August 6, 1939. His family moved to Tiffin, Ohio where he met and married his lovely wife, and high school sweetheart, Mardell (Fowler) Remy. They made their home in Galion, Ohio, where together they were blessed with 68 years of marriage and raised their five children.
Denny was a proud Leo, strong and generous with his time, loyal to his friends and family, and always giving back to the Galion community. He was a stand up guy, a man of his word. He had a magnetic personality and a sharp wit, commanding the room with his jokes, Donald Duck impressions and stories. He was well known for his looong stories, often starting with one which spun into another before finally circling back to the final point.
Denny enjoyed a long and successful career at Gorman-Rupp, where he was well respected and played a major role in the company’s success as their Purchasing Manager.
He was an outstanding athlete who excelled in baseball, track, and football. As a star running back for his alma mater, Tiffin Columbian High School, he earned the nickname “swivel hips” for his signature quick moves, once leading to a legendary 97-yard touchdown. A lefty, with a passion for golf, Denny was a master club fitter and boasts Club Champion at Valley View Golf Course with the very clubs he designed himself.
He was ahead of his time with videography, proudly chronicling the 1985 Galion Football Champs’ journey to victory. He was a lifelong fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns and carried that loyalty into every aspect of his life. Above all else, Denny was a family man. His presence, humor, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Dad, simply stated, you were the best of the best. Thank you for your sacrifices, love, and support. We will hold you in our hearts forever.
“Enjoy the back nine”
