Alison G. Roepke, 90 of Sandusky passed from this life on Thursday evening on December 26, 2024 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio.

She was born on October 21, 1934 in Ashland, Ohio the daughter of the late Alton and Margery (née Sharp) George.

Alison graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1952. She furthered her education and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Ashland University, where she later earned her master’s degree in education.

Alison married the love of her life, William Roepke on August 21, 1955. The couple would call Ashland home.

Alison retired in 2001 after more than 30 years of teaching in Ashland City Schools, where she served alongside many incredible and talented educators and staff. Throughout her career, spanning Montgomery Elementary and Ashland Middle School, she was a beloved intervention specialist with a heart for helping students with educational challenges. Alison poured her energy and love into her work, tirelessly advocating for her students and celebrating their victories, big and small. Known for her patience, creativity, and genuine care, she had a unique ability to connect with each child, making them feel valued and capable. She believed deeply in the potential of every student and worked tirelessly to help them succeed, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives and their families.

Alison was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church.

Alison and Bill’s happy place was their cherished home on Lake Erie, where laughter echoed and unforgettable memories were made. It was the heart of countless family reunions, filled with love, joy, and plenty of good times by the water.

She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, William “Bill” Roepke of Sandusky; one daughter, Diane Roepke of Sandusky; three sons, Tom (Melinda) Roepke of Ashland, David Roepke of Hayesville, and Mike Roepke of Ashland; grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie) Metcalf of Sandusky, Phillip (Amy Hoffman) Metcalf of St. Louis, MO, Sarah (Thomas) Latrille of Paris, France, Jed Roepke of Grove City, OH, Emmah Roepke of Mansfield. Great-Grandchildren, Annie Metcalf, Amelia Metcalf, and Laura Latrille; and one sister, Pam Uhler of Ashland.

In addition to her parents, Alison is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ken Uhler.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roepke Home, 1101 Cedar Point Road, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 with Dr. John Shultz presiding. A time of fellowship and gathering will follow after the service.
