James H. Romine, age 97, of Galion passed away Tuesday May 27, 2025 at Magnolia Terrace.

Born June 26, 1927 in Galion, he was the son of the late Julius and Josephine (Sickel) Romine. He married Mary Ann Muth on May 9, 1954 and she survives.

He was a 1945 graduate of Galion High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served for two years including time on the USS Colonial. He worked as a clerk for the Erie and Conrail Railroads, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of the American Legion Scarborough Post and the Galion Masonic Lodge #414. He enjoyed raising Christmas trees, which he did for 40 years. He also liked to read, fish, and admire cars. He and Mary Ann traveled to Florida for many years and spent time in Nokomis.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Scott (Mary J) Romine, daughter Susan (Richard) Morris, and grandchildren Seth Romine, Jason Romine, Nicholas Morris, and Alyson (Sean) Ely.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Romine, and sister Betty Huffman.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 PM Monday, June 2, 2025, at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833, where services will be held at 1:30. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by the Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Burial Detail.
