SHELBY — Free summer lunches for children ages 18 and under will be available at Shelby Help Line Ministries starting June 2.

The program is designed to serve children from Shelby and Tiro. Kids must be present to receive a lunch — which will be offered Monday through Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. June 2 through Aug. 15.

Lunches may be picked up at Shelby Help Line Ministries, 39 Walnut St., around the back of the building.

Executive Director Jolene Arms said nearly $12,000 was budgeted in total for the 11-week program this year. Donations can be made through the Shelby Help Line Ministries website or through its office and are greatly appreciated.

Each week a different church will serve lunch, including First Lutheran Church, Awake Church, First Presbyterian Church, Nazarene Church, Crossroads Church and Connect Church.

Taylortown Community Church, Shelby Missionary Alliance Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Core Community Church will also be serving lunches through the program.

“We are excited for this ministry,” Arms said. “We love seeing all the smiling faces during the summer months and being able to be a blessing to the children and their families through this program.”
