MANSFIELD — Ohio State University alumni are invited to join fellow Buckeyes on June 17 for an evening of storytelling, connection and cinematic history at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield.

The former state prison is famously known as the filming location for “The Shawshank Redemption” and other major productions at 100 Reformatory Road,

The evening is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. and will feature a brief presentation exploring the role of the reformatory in film and television, highlighting how filmmakers bring scenes to life on location.

After the presentation, guests will embark on a guided tour of the site, stepping into the same halls and cells that have served as the dramatic backdrop for Hollywood storytelling.

“This is a Hollywood-meets-Mansfield type of event, with a heavy focus on Shawshank, but also the other films created here,” said Patti Connors, engagement officer with the Ohio State Alumni Association.

“We look forward to an evening of networking and enjoying time together as fellow Buckeyes,” she said.

The event is open to alumni, as well as friends and family of alumni, and will begin with networking over hors d’oeuvres and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

Registration is $20 and registrations are required by June 13. Register online at: go.osu.edu/C5qV
