Charlotte May Brown, age 86, of Bellville, passed away peacefully with her beloved husband at her side on May 17, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Home.

Born and raised in Bellville, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Lewis and Faye Harter. She graduated from Bellville High School and went on to attend Miami Valley Nursing College, where she graduated with honors. Charlotte devoted her life to caring for others, serving as a Charge Nurse at Peoples Hospital—where she was affectionately known as “Charlie Brown.” She continued her nursing journey through contributions to medical publications, research, and later work at Diamond View Nursing Home.

Charlotte and her husband, Raymond Paul Brown, co-founded Paul Brown Sports and Mid-Ohio Trophy. They shared a love for golf and traveling, especially enjoying time spent collecting seashells on Sanibel Island.

She was also a longtime member of the Bellville American Legion Auxiliary Post 535 and dedicated many years to the Girls State selection committee, supporting the growth and leadership of young women in the community.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; Lewis and Faye Harter her sister, Marlene, Arbogast Blackburn; She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Paul Brown; her brother, Larry Harter (Joan); Children Darrel Brown, (Deb), Douglas Brown (Beth); grandchildren Allison Brown, Emily Kirk, (Tony), Christian Brown, (Laura) Sheldon Brown; and great-grandchild Mollie Charlotte Brown., who proudly carries on her great-grandmother’s name.

Charlotte will be dearly missed and forever in our family’s hearts.
