MADISON TOWNSHIP — Residents in Madison Township should see several road improvements made by September.
Township trustees opened bid packages for summer road resurfacing and chip-seal work at a special meeting Saturday morning. Chair Dan Fletcher opened two bids for the road resurfacing program and one for chip-and-seal.
Bids received for road resurfacing came from Kokosing and Shelly & Sands. Kokosing submitted the low bid at $209,812.55. Shelly & Sands bid $215,393.25.
“Sounds like we were right there where we want to be,” Fletcher said of the Kokosing’s bid.
Work will be paid for out of the township’s road fund, along with some funding from the Ohio Public Works Commission, Fletcher said. Work must be completed by Sept. 1.
The Shelly Company submitted the lone bid for the township’s 2025 chip-seal program, which came in at $132,716.40 — which will be paid for out of the road fund. Work must be completed on or before Sept. 30.
Contracts for both programs need approval from trustees at their next meeting June 2.
The board meets on the first and third Monday of each month in the Township Hall, 817 Expressview Drive in Mansfield, at 7 p.m.

- Morgan Avenue (from Fifth Avenue to Warden Road)
- Bonaire Avenue (from Fifth Avenue to Warden Road)
- Darbydale Road (from Fifth Avenue to dead end)
- Sunnydale Road (from Fifth Avenue to dead end)
- Rosedale Road (from Fifth Avenue to dead end)
- Manner Drive (from Crestwood Drive to Eastview Drive)
- Oakdale Drive (from Barbara Lane to Bellview Drive)
- Valleydale Drive (from Rosedale Road to Flemming Falls Road)
- Caldwell Avenue (from Fifth Avenue to dead end)
- Wesley Avenue (from Fifth Avenue to Warden Road)
- Warden Road (from Fifth Avenue to Morgan Avenue)

About three and a half miles of roads in Madison Township are on the list for chip-seal work this year. That list includes:
- Hoover Road (from State Route 545 to Beal Road)
- Delwood Road (from Flemming Falls Road to dead end)
- Hazelwood Drive (from Stewart Road to Beal Road)
- Manner Drive (from Dresden Drive to Beal Road)
- Crall Road (from State Route 545 to Township Line)
- Sites Road (from Chew Road to dead end)
