BERLIN TOWNSHIP — A Norwalk man was killed after a one-vehicle motorcycle crash on Friday night along a stretch of Ohio 61, according to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Mark Hoover, 57, of Norwalk, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The incident took place at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Ohio 61 south of Chapin Road in Berlin Township, Erie County.
According to the Patrol, Hoover was operating a 2002 Harley Davidson Road King Classic and had just finished negotiating a left-hand curve when he traveled off the right side of the road. The motorcycle struck a ditch and a utility pole before coming to final rest.
Hoover was transported by North Central EMS to Evans Funeral Home in Norwalk, later to be transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
The Patrol stated that Hoover was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Fire, Foster’s Towing, and the North Central EMS.
The crash remains under investigation.
