COLUMBUS — Most did not have Metallica covering “Hang on Sloopy” as tens of thousands of metal fans sang, O-H-I-O, on their 2025 list.

Hang on Sloopy, Ohio’s official Rock-N-Roll anthem, was a nice homage to the state that hosted one of the largest rock and metal festivals in the U.S.

Metallica wrapped the four-day event Sunday night and said numerous times how fortunate it was to play here twice in three days.

Lead singer James Hetfield also put three syllables in the city name of Col-um-bus, where locals go with more of a two-count, Culllum-bis.

All the mothers in the crowd were thanked by Heftield on Mother’s Day weekend, and the show was wrapped by the song One, followed directly after by Enter Sandman.

A fireworks show illuminated the full-moon sky as the herds moved towards the parking lot and back to their normal lives.

Day Three (Saturday) experience photos from Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP):

Saturday’s lineup included: Linkin Park, I Prevail, Jimmy Eat World, Bullet for My Valentine and Three Six Mafia, photos from DWP below. They were all supported by Trivium, Under Oath, Grandson, Crossfade, Silverstein and 10s more bands.

Hardcore and horror were both showcased on Sunday with Terror, GWAR, Hollywood Undead and the slasher-film-inspired production of Ice Nice Kills.

There’s nothing better than watching some intense music as the lead singer dresses up like Patrick Bateman and dons a raincoat and an axe and proceeds to chop up some fake people.

I can’t even describe the GWAR show due to graphic restraints, outside of Taylor Swift was brought out and gave birth to Kelece’s baby and it all went downhill from there, as blood was sprayed all over the crowd.

Final day of festival (Sunday) experience photos from DWP:

Sunday was headlined with Metallica, Beartooth, Chevelle, Power Trip, Asking Alexandria, and supported by tens of bands all bringing great intensity and power.
