MANSFIELD — The Richland County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will conduct a test of the 44 tornado sirens throughout the county on Wednesday, May 14 from 4 to 5 p.m.

The rain date is Thursday, May 15 at 4 p.m.

This test is being conducted as part of the implementation of the MARCs siren upgrade project.

The Richland County Board of Commissioners awarded the project to VASU Communications in May of 2024. The expected completion date is May 31.

This project, at a cost of $193,837.36, will upgrade the siren VHF technology to digital technology to ensure operability with the MARCs radio system being used by safety services throughout the county.

The monthly siren test will be conducted on Wednesday, May 28 at 4 p.m. as per the regularly scheduled testing.
